The hard disk or HD ( Hard Disk) , is the data storage device used in most computers . In it , you can save not only your files but also all the data on your operating system , without which you could not use the computer . In this article , you will see some details of the operation of HDDs and know some of its features (such as IDE , ATAPI , DMA , real capacity , among others ) .

The hard drive is not a new device but rather a technology that has evolved over time. One of the first drives that we know is the IBM 305 RAMAC . Available in 1956 , was able to store up to 5 MB of data ( a breakthrough for the time) and had tremendous dimensions : 14 x 8 inches. Its price was not too inviting : the 305 RAMAC cost about $ 30,000 .
